We want to thank everyone who made it out for the May meeting at Gary’s tackle box and L&s Trim. The May guest speaker was Alan Andrews with Interstate Battery. We want to thank him also for making it out and discussing the advantages of the different batteries that Interstate has. One of the main points of his presentation was the need for better maintenance with our marine batteries. Make sure you are checking the water level prior to every charge.
Also Optima Batteries is a new sponsor for the BASS Nation. I have looked for a link with information on the sponsorship but haven’t found it yet. I contacted Tom Mahoney and am waiting to hear back where to find the guidelines. As far as I remember you must have all Optima batteries on your boat and an Optima sticker to qualify. I believe you must be the highest finishing angler with those things to qualify for the money. I also think the state qualifiers and higher tournaments are the ones that are being sponsored. Again as soon as I hear from Tom I will send an email out with better information.
Treasurer Darrel Pons Sr. gave a report on the club finances and the club is doing great this year and is on schedule to meet and exceed our 1000$ angler of the year money. It looks like we will have funds to pay for everything and then some. Due to last year’s finances the idea to forgo the banquet and awards for 2012 was brought up and unanimously agreed to. Everything should be back to normal this year and we look forward to a great banquet and award ceremony.
A committee was formed to discuss different options for the website. If you are interested on helping or know someone that might be able to help the committee, please contact Dennis.
We also want to remind members that we are governed by the same by laws (unless otherwise noted in our own by laws) as the BASS Nation. Please only use your cell phones during tournaments for emergencies and it is considered cheating to call another competitor to let them know what to do to catch more fish during the tournament.
This month’s tournament is on Lake Rousseau this coming Saturday 5/11/2013 due to Sunday being mother’s day (HINT HINT). We will be back to the normal schedule next month. If you were unable to make the meeting and want to fish you must contact Bob Heron to see what can be done to fish. I have attached a link with directions to the Kitty Lane boat ramp. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Steven Thames @ 352-222-6164. Thanks again we hope to see you at the tournament or next meeting.
